As we look ahead to Thanksgiving, I am reminded again of how grateful I am to live in a country where people are free to make their own choices. We have the freedom to get out of bed each morning and go to jobs that we choose. Our children can go to the schools we choose for them. We can freely choose to worship wherever our hearts lead us without fear of persecution. Here in America, our freedom is an awesome gift that should not be taken for granted.
At White-Spunner Realty, our mission statement sets the tone for everything we do. It states “We are committed to the Christian principles of honesty and integrity, which lead to successful relationships with our clients.”
Fortunately, we have been blessed to work alongside professionals who are rooted in the core values of honesty and integrity. As a part of the team for 18 years, it is inspiring to see what happens when good people come together to serve our clients and community in a positive way. It’s something else I will continue to be grateful for.
President, White–Spunner Realty
Mobile, AL (Nov. 15, 2017) — White-Spunner Realty is pleased to announce that Bowen Weir has joined the firm as managing director of its Eastern Shore Realty division. He accepted a position with the White-Spunner team in October.
A licensed real estate agent, Weir previously worked for a national oil and gas company. He and his family have called Baldwin County home for more than four years.
“We welcome the addition of Bowen Weir to the Baldwin county team,” said Matt White, president of White-Spunner Realty. “His background and personality make him an ideal fit for our firm. With more than 60 years of experience in commercial and residential sales and leasing, White-Spunner looks forward to the continued expansion of our staff to serve clients along the Gulf Coast.”
Weir earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Mississippi and a master’s degree in business from the University of Memphis. A member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), he is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) candidate, a member of the Baldwin County Board of Realtors and the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
“I really like the culture I found at White-Spunner,” Weir said. “With the new bridge coming to allow greater access between Mobile and Baldwin County, it’s really going to open up the market even more.”
He and his wife, Maggie, have one son, also named Bowen. They attend Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, Al.
“My wife’s family vacationed here for decades,” Weir said of why they moved to the area. “We decided it would be a great place to raise a family.”
Blacksher White-Spunner participates in Honor Flight, Washington D.C. – 2009
Long before Blacksher White-Spunner helped develop some of the most popular subdivisions on the Gulf Coast, he was a teenager from Mobile, Alabama, willing to sacrifice his life for his country. Like millions of Americans, White-Spunner listened to news reports in stunned disbelief after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. “I signed up to be in the Marine Corps at a time when America was greatly united,” he said. “People were willing to die for their country. I felt that way, too.”
Now Chairman of the Board for the real estate business that bares his name, White-Spunner, 90, said he was fortunate. Fresh out of basic training, he was headed to Japan when U.S. President Harry Truman ordered an atomic bomb dropped on the island nation.
“It saved my life,” he said during a recent interview at his Dauphin Street office. “I spent a lot of time in occupied Japan, but I came back. A lot of others weren’t so lucky.”
He returned home and took advantage of the GI bill, earning a degree from Auburn University. After 18 months at a furniture company, White-Spunner went to work selling cars during the week and property on the weekends.
