Jada Isbell has been running Visions Hair Salon in Saraland for the past 13 years! We jumped at the chance to ask some questions of this experienced business owner, which we’ve shared below:
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Mobile, AL.
What does your business provide?
Visions Hair Salon provides many services to clients from routine haircuts to those that are looking to change their look with color services.
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for 13 years.
What convinced you to start your own business?
I had a great friend who was a stylist and she convinced me into partnering with her to open a salon. It had always been a dream of ours to have a salon one day!
What are some challenging and rewarding parts of your work?
I feel the most challenging thing in the hair industry is getting clients to understand the process and skills it takes to achieve their desired look. Of course, the most rewarding part is when they love and feel confident with their new look!
How did you decide on your business location? When did you move into your current location?
I was renting a space that was not very far from my current location. One of my friends needed a space, since the salon where she worked had recently closed. So, after working with me for a few months, she would always tell me about her old salon and that it was a great location for walk-ins and parking. I took one look at the space and knew it was going to be a prime location for my business. So, in 2014 we opened our new location.
What people or businesses would you consider your MVP’s in keeping your business running smoothly?
Well for starters, our wonderful clients are our MVP’s. They are always the heart of our business and what makes our job so rewarding. Next is our team of stylists that work at meeting the needs of every guest. Lastly is our wonderful product distributors who work hard to make sure our supplies are delivered, so that we can create the desired look for our clients!
What’s one piece of advice you have for other business owners?
Never stop dreaming and being creative in your business. Stay passionate and keep growing!
