2024 marks White-Spunner Realty’s 70th anniversary of connecting people to opportunity. As the population of Mobile, AL, boomed in the post-war era of the 1950s, our founder Blacksher White-Spunner was offered the opportunity to purchase some land in what is now midtown Mobile. With fellow investors, Blacksher developed a small subdivision while still working full-time at a local car dealership – he says he was “selling cars during the week and lots on the weekend!”
This venture launched Blacksher’s real estate career and White-Spunner Realty was founded in 1954. He began developing neighborhoods all over the midtown and Spring Hill areas of Mobile in the 1950s and 1960s. Eventually, Blacksher was joined by his late son Jay White-Spunner, and in the 1970s, White- Spunner Realty moved into commercial real estate, creating retail developments across the Florida
panhandle, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Now, 70 years later, the White-Spunner family and the White-Spunner Realty team carry on Blacksher’s entrepreneurial spirit, as well as his legacy of valuing personal relationships and treating people the right way. The company manages over 2 million square feet of commercial space from Biloxi, Mississippi, to Panama City, Florida, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.
The principals of White-Spunner Realty also continue to purchase and redevelop retail and shopping centers along the Gulf Coast. They work hand-in-hand with Fortune 500 companies and investors to shape vibrant community retail centers, as well as high-quality office/warehouse spaces for local and national tenants.
